Thanks to a personal desire to be as accurate about anime as I can be for this anime blog, I watch series that don’t necessarily interest me and series that I know will probably stink. Sometimes I’m surprised and find that diamond in the rough. Sometimes the anime is as bad as I thought it would be. More often, I’m stuck watching anime that isn’t quite bad enough to outright drop but not good enough to enjoy watching. I’d rather spend my time blogging about the good stuff but, once a year, I want to focus on the mediocre, the bad, and the terrible anime that I watched in the past year to cleanse the palette and remind myself that not all anime is good.
This section of awards and the worst of countdown is that focus.

It would be nice if it was possible to watch every anime that comes out and that each anime would be worth watching but that is an impossible possibility. (Maybe in a Twilight Zone sort of way it is possible if only one anime a year gets made and only after it gets the approval of everyone in the world.)
Therefore, a person naturally develops criteria to decide what to watch and continually refines this criteria. I’ve been watching anime for over 10 years now and have watched close to 700 anime series in that time, so, I’d like to believe how I evaluate a potential show has gotten fairly accurate. However, there are still times when a bad apple slips through; exceedingly rare, though, is a series I finish before I realize I’ve wasted my time watching it.
Continue reading Day 4 – I Regret Nothing Except When I Do – The 12 Days of Anime
The Spring 2015 anime season is just around the bend and there’s a ton of new series on the way to hopefully fill the holes in our hearts left from all the great winter series.
Instead of a dry listing of all the various anime series that will be coming out, I’m going to take a stab at guessing which series will be the top anime series of season. Last summer I did a preview like this and it was funny to see what I got right and what I didn’t. I failed to include Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita, Ao Haru Ride, and Sabagebu! on my countdown. I also had Sailor Moon: Crystal picked to be my #6 anime and Glasslip as my #9.
So, I guess the takeaway is that the following list will probably be wrong, hilariously so, but that’s okay. I’ll laugh at myself later as well. And to lead this countdown off is …
