Anime Quiz 6 Answers

I’ve almost completely gone through the new books I got for Christmas already and started casting around for something new to read. (I’m holding off on The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu, translated by Ken Liu [himself, one of my favorite new authors] because I want lessen the time I have to wait for the sequel to come out, if only a little bit.) I remembered npr did a top 100 science fiction and fantasy of all time vote/poll list that yielded a very respectable list so I started at the top and decided to read the first one that I hadn’t read and tugged at me to read. I got down to number 11 and saw The Princess Bride and knew I had my next book.

I probably shouldn’t have waited so long to read the book since I love the movie of The Princess Bride to the point that I believe that the people who don’t probably aren’t humans and are probably pod people scheming on taking over the world.

Reading the book lasted all of two days because I just couldn’t put it down. (I was up to 6 AM last night in a mad dash to finish.) There’s parts of it that are different enough that I think everyone who liked the movie should read the book. However, the spirit of what made The Princess Bride exceptional shines just as clearly in the book as it does the movie so there’s no worry about the book disappointing after watching the movie. It’s easily understandable to see why the book finished at number 11.

Anyways, here’s the answers to this week’s anime quiz.

5 Reasons I’m More Excited About the Sequel to Phi Brain then Little Busters

[WhyNot] Phi Brain - Kami no Puzzle S3 - 01 [204156C9].mkv_snapshot_23.49_[2013.10.07_03.17.05]

In the fall season preview guide I didn’t finish in time, I noted that, of the crop of sequels coming out, Phi Brain season 3 was the sequel I was most looking forward to.  I’ve been missing my weekly dose of “Puzzle Time” and I was glad to see that it was coming back. With a couple weeks of the fall season now under our belts, I began reflecting on this new season and I realized two related things. One, I still feel most excited about Phi Brain and, two, I should be most excited about Little Busters. These two thoughts gave rise to this post.

Read on to see five reasons, in no particular order, why I’m more excited about the Phi Brain sequel vs. the Little Busters sequel.

Winter 2012 Mid-Season Anime Report – Part 1: The Bottom Eleven

And just like that, we’ve already reached the halfway point of the winter anime season. Normally, I’m with the other early adopters that have already cast their glance forward to the spring season at this point because I’m sick of everything remotely related to winter; however, this year the weather has apparently forgotten what “winter” means, sticking to a more early spring feel, and as a result I find myself feeling oddly worried that winter is slipping by too quickly. Heresy, I know.

The halfway point is a good place to rest for a moment and examine the season’s anime series. It’s been long enough that the slow-starting series have had time to find their own rhythm and long enough to see if those anime series that promised the moon in episode 1 have the stuff to deliver.
