Fall Anime Impressions – Toradora!
The first of two J.C. Staff shows that start this season is Toradora!. This was the one I was looking forward to more because it had Rie Kugimiya playing another tsundere and also because I knew nothing about the other series.
Rating: 10/12 A
Color me intrigued – this show could be a genuine hit.
The story appears to follow two characters that are unlucky in love for different reasons. Our guy, Ryuuji Takasu, has been cursed with DNA that makes him look like a scary delinquent but unless your mold or a dirty dish, there’s nothing to worry about because he’s really a nice guy. Our girl, Taiga Aisaka, is Rie Kugimiya’s tsundere and her nickname is the palmtop tiger because she’s short and ferocious. Each one happens to like a friend of the other (yes, only in anime) and by the end of the episode they end up in a partnership to help the other out.
So while the relationship/school hijinks that will probably occur is by no means original, the first episode was executed very well and makes me think that this show will distinguish itself among similar shows.

I agree with you. usually my expectations for shows like Toradora! are set at zero, but this show has piqued my curiosity of some reason.
