Farm house where I stayed for vacation

Well, that was an unexpected week-long break from anime blogging. The reason was that I was on vacation with the family and the promised internet connection didn’t happen. I had planned on continuing blogging like normal since this was going to be a laid-back vacation and even figured I get to a couple of posts that I had wanted to write for awhile. But that’s the breaks, I guess. Read more about my vacation after the jump.

I stayed at a nice farm house in Knox County, Ohio. This was the first time we rented a house for a vacation and I think I could say for my whole family that it was much nicer staying here then in a hotel. This was a fairly remote place with the nearest full grocery store being 25 miles away.

One of the highlights of the vacation was the night sky. Living in the city, I never had the chance to see what the night sky really looked like. On the first night I walked out onto the back porch, looked up, and noticed I could see the Big Dipper. What’s more, I saw the Milky Way for the first time. I couldn’t help but think of all the pretty night skies in anime and finally seeing that they weren’t exaggerating it.

I didn’t get to see much anime while on vacation but we did have satellite tv so I caught the American premiere of Gurren Lagann. I knew ahead of time that there was absolutely no way that Kamina’s voice would be done justice and I was right. He sounded more like a punk brat then the original voice. I liked Leeron’s voice and thought the rest of the cast didn’t sound too bad.

So with that said, I’m going to try to catch up this blog and my anime watching.

That 4.25 mile walk was hellish but one of my fave memories, isn’t that weird? I love Mr. Turtle! I hope he stayed off the road.
